Fr. Bernard Laloo Appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Shillong

Bangalore, February 8, 2025 (CCBI): His Holiness Pope Francis has appointed Fr. Bernard Laloo (46) of the clergy of the Archdiocese of Shillong, currently the Chancellor of the same Archdiocese, as Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Shillong on February 8, 2025.

Fr. Bernard Laloo was born on June 16, 1976 at Laitlyngkot, Meghalaya, and was ordained a priest on April 30, 2006, for the Archdioceses of Shillong. He served the Archdiocese as Assistant of St. Paul’s Church, Upper Shillong (2006-2007), Administrator of Christ the King College, Shillong (2008), Dean of Studies at St. Paul’s Seminary, Shillong (2009-2015), Principal of Divine Saviour Higher Secondary School, Laitumkhrah (2015-2016), Director of Social Service Center, Shillong (2017-2021), Board member of Caritas India (2021-2024).

And from 2022 to date, Chancellor of the Archdiocese of Shillong and Parish Priest of the Cathedral of Mary Help of Christians, Laitumkhrah. He was also a former member of the Farmers’ Commission, as well as of the State Tuberculosis Co-morbidity Coordination Committee, Government of Meghalaya. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and Masters of Arts in Sociology besides he has Post Graduate Diplomas in Counselling Psychology.
