Ranchi, February 8, 2025: Scholars, theologians, and researchers gathered at St. Albert’s College Auditorium as St. Albert’s Institute of Philosophy (SAIP) and the Faculty of Theology Ranchi (FOTR) successfully hosted their Annual National Research Seminar. Themed “Pilgrims of Hope: Towards a Renewed Vision and Mission,” the event fostered discussions on key theological and ecclesial issues.
The seminar was convened by Dr. Fr. Raju Felix Crasta, Director of SAIP, and Prof. Dr. Suman Kumar Ekka, President of FOTR. Fr. Fabian Kullu, a Research Scholar at FOTR, served as the Master of the Ceremony, while Prof. Dr. Sudhir Kumar Minj, S.J., Rector of St. Xavier’s Autonomous College, Ranchi, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
The seminar opened with a prayer led by the Seminary Choir, setting a solemn and reflective tone. Rev. Fr. Ajay Xalxo, Rector of St. Albert’s College, Ranchi, welcomed the participants, emphasising the significance of the theme. Distinguished guests then inaugurated the event with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. Dr. Raju Felix Crasta presented the itinerary, outlining the discussions ahead.
The event showcased insightful sessions on theology and transformative leadership. The first session, moderated by Fr. Gulshan Minj, featured three distinguished speakers. Dr. John Crasta delivered an insightful talk on “Synodality in the Light of Aggiornamento and the Kairos of Vatican II,” while Dr. Leena Fernandes, SMI, delved into “The Eucharist as the Sacrament of Hope.” Fr. Valerian Lobo enriched the discussion with his presentation on “Basic Ecclesial Communities: A Beacon of Hope for a Synodal Church.”
The second session, expertly moderated by Fr. Alok Toppo, continued to inspire with thought-provoking insights. Prof. Dr. Suman Kumar Ekka explored “Women Leadership in the Church: A Gift and Hope,” while Dr. Raju Felix Crasta examined “Indigenous Worldview as Hope for a New Society.” Sr. Ranjita Minj, DSA, shed light on the remarkable contributions of Herman Raschaert, Constant Lievens, J.B. Hoffmann, and Bernadette Kispotta, celebrating them as trailblazers of hope and pioneers of modern India.
Chief Guest Prof. Dr. Sudhir Kujur Minj, S.J. delivered the closing address, sharing his key observations and takeaways from the seminar. Dr. Theodore Toppo expressed gratitude in his vote of thanks. At the end of the seminar, the 49th edition of the Annual Journal of College Sevartham was published, marking a significant milestone in academic and theological discourse. The event concluded with the Seminary Anthem.
The seminar provided an enriching platform for deep theological reflection and discourse on faith, hope, and leadership in the Church, reinforcing the collective mission of renewal and spiritual growth.
