EMHC Renewal Programme Held at St. Michael’s Convent, Karwar

Karwar, August 4, 2025 – The Diocese of Karwar’s Commission for Liturgy, under the leadership of Diocesan Director Fr. Cyprian Silva, organised a renewal programme for the Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHCs) at St. Michael’s Convent, Karwar. The spiritually enriching event brought together 28 EMHCs from Kajubag and Kone Deaneries.

The programme began in the morning with a warm welcome extended to all participants. Fr. Cyprian led the opening session titled “Emmaus Model of EMHC's Journey of Faith,” drawing on the biblical account of the disciples on the road to Emmaus. He invited the ministers to reflect on their personal faith journeys, encouraging them to walk more closely with Christ in their Eucharistic service through scriptural insights and practical reflections.

A special hour of Eucharistic Adoration followed, during which Fr. Cyprian offered a powerful reflection on “Our Disposition in Celebrating the Eucharist.” He underscored the importance of interior preparation, reverence, and maintaining a prayerful heart for all those serving at the altar and distributing Holy Communion.

The highlight of the day was the celebration of the Holy Eucharist. In his homily, Fr. Cyprian called on the ministers to detach themselves from worldly distractions and seek heavenly treasures, echoing Jesus’ teaching to “seek first the Kingdom of God.”

The renewal programme concluded in afternoon, leaving participants spiritually refreshed and deeply renewed in their ministry. Many EMHCs expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to gain deeper insight into the meaning of the Eucharist, their ministry, and personal spiritual growth.

Fr. Cyprian extended heartfelt thanks to the Bishop for his constant support, to parish priests for deputing their ministers, and to the St. Michael’s Convent community for their warm hospitality and thoughtful organisation, which contributed significantly to the success of the event.
