NAGERCOIL, August 18, 2026: A three-day national festival celebrating art, culture and heritage will bring together students, artists, educators and art enthusiasts at St Francis Higher Secondary School, Assisi campus, Nagercoil, from September 4 to 6.
Organised by the Kalari Folk Cultural Center and the Art & Heritage Center of the Diocese of Kottar in collaboration with the National Biblical, Catechetical and Liturgical Centre (NBCLC), Bengaluru, Cultural Palette 2026 will feature student competitions, a national artists' camp, live art demonstrations, an art exhibition and cultural performances.
The festival will open on September 4 with a national-level folk arts competition for school students. The competitions will include traditional fancy dress, solo folk dance and group dance. Winners will receive cash prizes and national-level certificates.
A national-level painting competition and a Live Studio Experience will be held on September 5. The studio programme will allow students to watch professional artists create artworks and interact with them. Participants will receive certificates, while winners will be awarded cash prizes, trophies and certificates.
The National Artists' Camp will be held throughout the three-day festival under the theme, “Peace: In the Light of St. Assisi.” Artists from across India have been invited to participate and create artworks live before visitors.
The organisers said participating artists would be provided food and accommodation, besides a monetary honorarium and national-level participation certificates.
The festival will conclude on September 6 with a grand art exhibition featuring works created during the artists' camp. The closing programme will also include cultural performances, heritage displays, book and art stalls and the distribution of prizes.
Cultural Palette 2026 is being organised under the leadership of Fr A. Sahaya Belix, director of the Kalari Folk Cultural Center and Art & Heritage Center. The organisers said the festival aims to provide a platform for artistic expression while encouraging engagement with India's diverse cultural heritage.
