Christians Called to Be Witnesses of Love and Unity at Kalianpur Zone Prayer Meet

Malpe, Udupi, January 24, 2026: A strong call to live the Gospel through love, unity and compassionate service echoed during the Kalianpur Zone–level Christian Unity Prayer Meeting held on January 22 at CSI Ebenezer Church, Malpe, under the Diocese of Udupi.

Bringing together clergy and faithful from various Christian denominations, the ecumenical gathering highlighted the shared Christian mission of fostering peace and mutual understanding in a world increasingly marked by division and intolerance.

Delivering the message, Pastor Kumar Salins of UBM Church, Malpe, urged Christians to become living witnesses of hope and reconciliation. Drawing inspiration from the Resurrection of Christ, he reminded the faithful that Christians are called to be bearers of light by reaching out to the weak, the suffering and the marginalised. Such acts of compassion, he said, give deeper meaning to Christian life and strengthen the Church’s witness in society.

Reflecting on the transformative power of love, Fr. Pradeep Cardoza, Assistant Priest of Kalianpur Milagres Cathedral, emphasised that genuine Christian living places human relationships above material possessions. He encouraged the faithful to respond sensitively to the pain of others, noting that God is encountered in one’s neighbour. True unity, he said, is built when Christians walk together in love and solidarity.

The prayer service was led by Msgr. Ferdinand Gonsalves, Vicar General of the Diocese of Udupi, whose presence reaffirmed the diocese’s commitment to ecumenism. Clergy and representatives from different Christian traditions participated, reflecting the spirit of togetherness that marked the gathering.

Pastor Vinay Sandesh of CSI Ebenezer Church welcomed the participants, while Fr. Denis D’Sa, Parish Priest of St Ann’s Church, Thottam, coordinated the programme.

The unity prayer meeting concluded as a meaningful expression of Christian fellowship, renewing the participants’ commitment to live as instruments of peace, love and hope, and to bear common witness to Christ in today’s world.
