Bilaspur, October 22, 2025 – The Catholic Bishops’ Council of Chhattisgarh organised the Regional Eucharistic Congress as part of the Jubilee celebrations at St. Vincent Pallotti Church, Bilaspur, on 21 and 22 October. The two-day event brought together clergy, religious, and lay faithful from across the region to deepen their faith in the Holy Eucharist.
The solemn Eucharistic Celebration presided over by Archbishop Victor Henry Thakur of Raipur and concelebrated by the four other Bishops of the region, along with several priests. In his address, Bishop Paul Toppo, Secretary of the Bishops’ Council, reflected on the Eucharist’s call to love one another as Christ has loved, urging the faithful to foster collaboration and unity as “pilgrims of hope.” The theme of the event was “Eucharist – Bread of Life for the Pilgrims of Hope.”
Over 1,300 participants, including major superiors, Vicar Generals, young people, and lay faithful, took part in the Congress. The programme included catechesis on the Eucharist and testimonies from young Catholics, which reignited faith and inspired all present.
A highlight of the first day was a 3-kilometre-long Eucharistic procession through the streets of Bilaspur, marked by deep devotion and prayer. The Congress became a powerful expression of faith and unity within the Church in Chhattisgarh, aiming to renew love for the Eucharist and reaffirm the Church’s teaching on this central mystery of faith.
Testimonies from participants served as moving witnesses of Eucharistic devotion, inspiring many to strengthen their spiritual lives. The procession, accompanied by prayers for the nation, left a profound impression on the faithful and people of other faiths alike, becoming a true moment of grace and evangelisation.
