Goa, 2 December 2025 — Conference of Catholic Bishops of India (CCBI) inaugurated the eighth batch of its Financial Administrators Course for diocesan and religious men at Shanti Sadan, Benaulim, to strengthen financial management skills and ensure effective compliance with current laws and regulations across Church institutions in India.

Auxiliary Bishop Simião Purificação Fernandes of the Archdiocese of Goa and Daman, opened the programme, with an introductory address delivered by Fr. Aleixo Menezes of Our Lady of Good Health Church, Cuncolim. The inaugural session brought together 18 financial administrators from various dioceses and congregations, joined by Fr Duming Gonsalves of Shanti Sadan.

The five-day training, held from 2–6 December, focused on practical and updated financial governance, facilitated by resource persons CA Sunil Gonsalves and CA Gaver S. Lobo, who led sessions on accounting norms, regulatory standards and responsible stewardship of temporal goods.

Participants also visited important heritage and mission sites in Old Goa and surrounding areas, offering a broader context to their engagement and an opportunity for reflection on the role of Church institutions in society.

The programme forms part of the CCBI’s ongoing initiative to ensure transparency, accountability and professional excellence in financial administration across the Church in India.
