Bagalkot Deanery in Karnataka Hosts Dance And Drama Competition

Bagalkot, December 2, 2025 — St Mary’s Church, Bagalkot hosted a Dance and Drama Competition for the Bagalkot deanery, bringing together young performers from six mission stations to creatively present the parables and teachings of Jesus through expressive storytelling, highlighting who participated, what the event showcased, where and when it took place, how it was organised, and why it served as a meaningful faith initiative.

The deanery, comprising Karadi, Gajendragad, Jamkhandi, Asangi, Mudhol and Guledgudda, demonstrated strong missionary spirit despite their small and remote settings. Their performances reflected Gospel values through well-known parables including the Good Samaritan, the Prodigal Son, the Lost Sheep and the Sower.

The event was coordinated by Fr. Freddy Anto Raj, Assistant Parish Priest Fr. Anthony and the St Ann’s Sisters Community, with support from the Diocesan Commission for Faith Formation. Bishop Derek Fernandes of Belgaum encouraged the children, reminding them that the aim was not simply to win but to witness Christ’s message in the realities of daily life.

Judges praised the dedication and talent of participants, noting the impact of their creative proclamation of faith. The deanery celebrated the gathering as a moment that strengthened unity, missionary zeal and the joyful expression of Christian life in their communities.
