Archdiocese of Raipur Completes Historic Eucharistic Yatra across 72 parishes

Raipur, 2 December, 2025 — Archdiocese of Raipur concluded a 14-day Eucharistic Yatra covering 2,664 kilometres across 72 parishes and mission stations, strengthening Eucharistic faith and unity among the faithful as part of its Jubilee 2025 observance.

The pilgrimage began on 17 November at St Joseph Cathedral with a Holy Mass led by Vicar General Fr Sebastian Poomattom, followed by the inauguration and benediction by Archbishop Victor Henry Thakur, who flagged off the Yatra.

Travelling through 19 civil districts of Chhattisgarh, the Blessed Sacrament reached communities across all corners of the Archdiocese, which spans over 64,000 sq. km. The faithful gathered in each parish for one hour of Eucharistic adoration, with opportunities for the sacrament of reconciliation.

The journey was facilitated using a Traveller vehicle converted into a temporary mobile chapel, made available by the Mid India Province of the SCSC Sisters. Throughout the itinerary, parishes expressed strong participation and a unified commitment to Eucharistic devotion.

The Yatra concluded at the Cathedral on 30 November with solemn adoration and benediction by Archbishop Victor Henry Thakur, who conveyed his appreciation to Fr John Ponnore, Fr Joseph Madalai Muthu and the organising team for their coordinated efforts in carrying out the Archdiocese-wide initiative.
