New Delhi, June 19, 2026: Recognising the growing importance of effective communication in healthcare, the CBCI Office for Health Care, in collaboration with CMHM India, has announced a national-level training programme aimed at equipping doctors with essential counselling skills for primary care settings.
Titled “GP Beyond Prescriptions: An Essential Guide to Basic Counselling Skills in Primary Care,” the month-long online programme seeks to help non-psychiatrist doctors enhance their ability to communicate effectively with patients, build trust, navigate difficult conversations, and improve treatment outcomes through evidence-based counselling approaches.

The programme, led by Health Soch Academy, will begin on August 3, 2026, with registrations open until July 31. Organisers have limited participation to 20 doctors to ensure personalised learning and mentoring.
Designed for general practitioners, specialists, and dentists, the course combines live interactive teaching with practical clinical application. Participants will attend eight one-hour online sessions held every Thursday and Friday from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. In addition, they will have access to self-paced video modules, one-to-one clinical mentoring, case-based discussions, role-play exercises, and practical tools that can be immediately integrated into everyday medical practice.
According to the organisers, the programme emphasises modern, learner-centred methods that blend theoretical knowledge with real-life clinical scenarios, enabling doctors to address the psychological and emotional dimensions of patient care more effectively.
The course fee is ₹10,000, covering study materials and administrative expenses. Participants who successfully complete the programme will receive a certificate.
The initiative reflects the Church’s continuing commitment to holistic healthcare by promoting compassionate, patient-centred medical practice and strengthening the human dimension of healing.
