Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Agra, Celebrates Women's Day with Grace and Enthusiasm

Agra, March 26, 2025 – The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Agra commemorated International Women’s Day with a series of inspiring events dedicated to honouring the women of the parish. Organised by the parish’s Mystical Rose Women’s Commission, the celebration featured prayers, motivational sessions, cultural performances, and a communal gathering, fostering unity and empowerment among attendees.

The event commenced with a solemn lamp-lighting ceremony led by His Grace Dr. Raphy Manjaly, Archbishop of Agra. Joining him in this symbolic gesture were Fr. Ignatius Miranda, former parish priest of the cathedral, and members of the Mystical Rose Women’s Commission—Mrs. Freeda Xavier (President), Mrs. Marie Olvin (Secretary), Mrs. Jayanti (Treasurer), and Mrs. Maria Joseph. Mrs. Marie Olvin then introduced the day's programme, setting the tone for the festivities, which included a vibrant folk dance and a reverent candle procession.

A solemn Holy Mass followed, concelebrated by Archbishop Dr. Raphy Manjaly alongside Parish Priest Fr. Rajan, Fr. Vincent, Fr. Miranda, and other parish priests. After the Mass, attendees gathered in the cathedral’s pastoral centre for an enriching session.

The event was graced by His Grace Archbishop Emeritus Dr. Albert D’Souza, who shared words of wisdom and led prayers for the congregation. Archbishop Dr. Raphy Manjaly also imparted his blessings upon the attendees. A thought-provoking session titled "Breaking Free for a Better Tomorrow" was then conducted by Fr. Santosh D’Sa, who encouraged the women to embrace self-empowerment and personal growth.

A lucky draw event followed, fostering joy and excitement among the participants. The celebration concluded with the distribution of rosaries and images of the Divine Mercy, followed by a delightful lunch.

The International Women’s Day celebration at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception Parish was a resounding success, strengthening faith, empowerment, and community spirit.
