Bangalore, Frazer Town, 27 March, 2025 – St. Aloysius Degree College, in collaboration with Bangalore Baptist Hospital and Baptist Women Care Services, hosted a breast cancer awareness programme on 20th March. The session, led by Dr. Nithya Manayath, Consultant in Surgical Oncology and General Surgery at Bangalore Baptist Hospital, aimed to educate students on early detection, risk factors, and preventive measures.
Dr. Manayath educated students on the importance of early detection, risk factors, and preventive measures against breast cancer. She stressed the importance of regular self-examinations and clinical check-ups, urging women over 40 to undergo annual mammograms and advised those with a family history of breast cancer to start screenings earlier. She also highlighted lifestyle factors that contribute to the disease and encouraged students to adopt healthier habits.
As part of the initiative, Dr. Manayath shared a special diet plan for students, recommending a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins, while discouraging the consumption of processed foods and sugary beverages.
The interactive session saw enthusiastic participation from students and faculty, making it an engaging and informative event.
