West Bengal, 30 March, 2025 – The Diocese of Asansol has taken a major step in integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into education and pastoral administration through a five-day workshop. From 25 to 29 March, 200 educators, administrators, and religious leaders explored AI’s transformative potential.
Sessions were held at multiple venues, starting at Chetana Ashram Pastoral Centre, Burdwan, and concluding at St. Joseph’s Convent School, Chittaranjan. The event, led by Fr. Wilson Fernandes under the guidance of Bishop Elias Frank, was organised in collaboration with Canara Communication Centre, Mangalore, and AI Lumina.
Bishop Frank emphasised that, "AI is a powerful tool that can revolutionize education, pastoral administration, and professional excellence. By integrating AI into our institutions, we are not only enhancing learning experiences but also ensuring efficient management and meaningful engagement in our ministries.”
AI experts Fr. Anil Ivan Fernandes and Mr. Leo Victor Zalki led the sessions. Fr. Fernandes, a Google-Certified AI Coach, highlighted AI’s potential in education and pastoral work. Mr. Zalki, an Oracle and Google-Certified AI Professional, focused on AI-driven decision-making and efficiency.
Participants engaged in hands-on sessions covering adaptive learning, ethical AI use, digital evangelisation, and AI-powered administration. Several received premium AI tools, while all attendees received an AI Toolkit for Education.
The event saw participation from Church and educational leaders, including Bishop Emeritus Fr. Cyprian Monis, Chancellor Fr. Devadoss A., and numerous principals and administrators.
With this initiative, the Diocese of Asansol reaffirms its commitment to integrating technology and values, ensuring holistic educational excellence.
