Mugaiyur Parish in Tamil Nadu Hosts Marathon Competition

Mugaiyur, Tamil Nadu, April 1, 2025: The St. Francis Xavier Church in Mugaiyur, a parish within the Archdiocese of Pondicherry & Cuddalore, hosted a marathon competition on March 30, 2025, to raise awareness about critical social issues. The event featured separate races for men and women, each focusing on an important cause. The men's marathon emphasized the theme "Let's Eradicate Drug Addiction," while the women's race addressed the theme "Let's Prevent Sexual Crime."Organized by the Catholic Youth Association of Mugaiyur (CYAM), the competition saw over 500 individuals participating.


The event was flagged off by Parish priest of Mugaiyur parish, Rev. Fr. Arputraraj, along with Rev. Sr. Vasanthi, and Dn. Thomas Berna. The event concluded with the distribution of prizes to the winners and certificates to all participants.


In the men's race, Mohan Raj claimed first place, followed by Infant Jacob in second and Joshua Rohit in third. In the women's race, Alvin Sajitha emerged victorious, with Mahimai Anusia securing second place and Axilia finishing third.


Rev. Fr. Nayakam, Principal of St. Xavier's HSS, along with Mr. Louis, Panchayat President, and other dignitaries, attended the event and commended the competitors for their dedication. Every participant received a certificate of appreciation for their involvement.


The marathon successfully conveyed powerful messages about drug addiction and sexual crime prevention, leaving a lasting impact on the local community.
