Chhattisgarh Youth Embrace Communio at Regional Training Programme

Kunkuri, Chhattisgarh, 2 April 2025 – The Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) Chhattisgarh Region hosted a Regional Training of Trainers (TOT) programme from 29-30 March 2025 at Vianney Seva Kendra, Youth Animation Centre, Kunkuri. The event drew 220 enthusiastic young participants eager to deepen their commitment to the Church’s mission in India through the Communio Volunteers Programme. 

Ms. Apeksha Xess, a second-batch Communio Volunteer, introduced Communio to the youth of Chhattisgarh, marking its first formal engagement in the region. She outlined the organisation’s mission, goals, and practical ways for volunteers to contribute to the Church’s outreach. Reflecting on her own journey, she shared how the Communio Missionary Animation Programme transformed her perspective and lifestyle, expressing gratitude for the Church’s role in shaping her spiritual growth. 

Personal Mission Experiences Inspire Youth

Mr. Julyesh Barwa, a first-batch Communio Volunteer, shared his mission experience in the Diocese of Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh. He offered a heartfelt account of the region’s faith-filled communities, highlighting both the challenges and the profound simplicity of life there. 

Recounting her training and exposure in the Diocese of Udupi, Karnataka, Ms .Smriti Kujur, from the second batch, spoke about stepping out of her comfort zone, overcoming fears, and discovering a renewed sense of purpose in mission work. 

Ms. Apurva Xess, a third-batch volunteer, reflected on her training at Don Bosco Institute of Technology, New Delhi. She emphasised how encountering passionate missionaries rekindled her own zeal for service. She also stressed the need for young people to gain clarity on faith, Church teachings, and their role in service. 

The training programme served as a platform for learning, sharing, and spiritual renewal, equipping young leaders with the vision and tools to serve their communities more effectively.
