Bangalore, 2 April 2025 – “The Last Supper is a decisive moment in the life of Jesus, and I believe it holds meaning for everyone—whether you have loved, suffered, or worse, been betrayed,” said Archbishop Peter Machado as he encouraged people of all faiths and backgrounds to watch The Chosen: The Last Supper, releasing in cinemas this April 2025.
Beyond the Da Vinci Painting
Referring to the world-famous Last Supper painting by Leonardo da Vinci, the Archbishop highlighted that while many recognise the artwork, fewer understand the depth of the event it represents. “Beyond the artwork, the Last Supper is a spiritual, historical, and mystical moment that Jesus himself has experienced.”
A Message of Healing for All
Encouraging both Christians and non-Christians to experience the film, Archbishop Machado said, “I would be happy to open this up to everyone. The Last Supper washes away negativity and gives us the best and most positive experience.”
Archbishop to Watch the Film on the Big Screen
Expressing his enthusiasm for the film, Archbishop Machado also announced that he himself will be watching The Chosen: The Last Supper in cinemas. “I will be going to watch this movie on the big screen, and I invite everyone to join in this experience,” he said.

The Chosen, the globally acclaimed, crowd-funded series on the life of Jesus, has captivated audiences with its deeply personal and emotional storytelling.
