Bhopal Faith Leaders Celebrate Raksha Bandhan, Call for Peace and Religious Harmony

Bhopal, August 29, 2026: Religious leaders and representatives from different faith traditions came together in Bhopal for a special interfaith gathering organised by the Brahma Kumaris of Bhopal unit on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, with a focus on peace, brotherhood, mutual respect, harmony and spiritual solidarity.

The gathering was organised under the leadership of BK. Nita Didi and brought together religious leaders in a spirit of friendship and unity. The programme opened with a warm welcome to the invited religious leaders, followed by an explanation of the spiritual significance of Raksha Bandhan by the Brahma Kumaris.

The Brahma Kumaris emphasised that Raksha Bandhan is not merely a social celebration but also conveys a deeper message of love, purity, protection, responsibility and mutual care.

As part of the celebration, the Brahma Kumari sisters, including BK. Nita Didi and others, tied Rakhi to the participating religious leaders as a symbolic expression of affection, respect and a commitment to strengthening bonds of peace and fraternity. The ceremony fostered an atmosphere of warmth and spiritual fellowship among those present.

The gathering highlighted the importance of interreligious dialogue and peaceful coexistence. Participants reflected on the need for religious communities to work together for the welfare of society and to become instruments of peace, compassion and reconciliation.

Archbishop Durairaj, in his message to the gathering, conveyed his greetings on the occasion and thanked the Brahma Kumari sisters for organising such gatherings.

The celebration also underscored that while different religious traditions may have different beliefs and practices, they can come together around common values such as love, service, compassion, forgiveness, justice and peace.

The participation of religious leaders from different communities gave particular significance to the gathering, providing an opportunity for them to interact, exchange greetings and strengthen relationships beyond religious and institutional boundaries.

The gathering reaffirmed the importance of peace, unity, interreligious harmony and the common good of society, while bringing religious leaders together in a spirit of fraternity around values shared across humanity.
