Bhopal Archdiocese Conducts AI-Focused Capacity Building Workshop for PROs

Bhopal, Sept. 20, 2025: The Public Relations Office of the Archdiocese of Bhopal organised a one-day Capacity Building Workshop for the Public Relations Officers (PROs) of all schools, colleges, and hospitals under the Archdiocese on 20 September 2025 at the Pastoral Centre, Bhopal. The workshop, themed “AI in Action: Empowering Institutional Communication for the Future,” brought together PROs to strengthen communication networks, enhance media skills, and gain practical knowledge of AI-powered platforms.

The objectives of the workshop included capacity building by training PROs in institutional communication, providing hands-on experience with AI-driven tools for drafting letters, preparing reports, designing posters, and managing outreach, as well as fostering collaboration and coordination across Archdiocesan institutions. The programme also sought to promote media awareness and envision the future of Catholic institutional communication as effective, transparent, and innovative, while remaining rooted in Gospel values.

The welcome address and the Keynote message were given by Archbishop A.A.S. Durairaj SVD of Bhopal. In his address, the archbishop highlighted the importance of communication in the digital age and encouraged participants to embrace artificial intelligence responsibly, stressing that while AI is a powerful tool, it must never replace human creativity, values, or ethical foundations.

The resource persons for the day were Mrs. Binsy George, Fr. Thomas Anthony Raj Opraem, and Fr. Alfred D’Souza. They shared their expertise to equip participants with the skills needed to be effective communicators in their respective institutions.

The workshop concluded with a reflection session on key learnings, during which participants expressed their gratitude to the Archdiocese for the initiative that empowered them with updated skills and knowledge in communication.
