Bettiah, October 21, 2025 — On Mission Sunday, Bishop Peter Sebastian Goveas of Bettiah conferred the Sacrament of Confirmation on forty-one children of Bettiah Parish at the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The celebration marked a moment of joy and renewal for the parish community as the children, accompanied by their godparents, were fully initiated into the life of the Church.
In his homily, Bishop Goveas reminded the faithful that through Confirmation, the newly confirmed are strengthened by the Holy Spirit to live as witnesses of Christ. Reflecting on the significance of Mission Sunday, he drew inspiration from the Gospel passage of Jesus sending out the seventy-two disciples, urging the children to go forth with the grace and gifts of the Spirit to proclaim the Gospel of love, hope, and service.
The Bishop also invited all present to thank God for His abundant blessings and to remain steadfast in faith and mission. Following the Mass, he presented Certificates of Confirmation to the newly confirmed.
The celebration was made even more special as it coincided with the eighth Episcopal anniversary of Bishop Goveas.
