Bengaluru, June 14, 2026: Spandhana I., the daughter of an auto driver, achieved remarkable academic success by securing three gold medals in the Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) programme from Padmashree Institute of Physiotherapy, affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), this year.
Born and brought up in Bengaluru with roots in Mandya district, Spandhana credited her achievement to hard work, determination and the constant support of her family. Her father, Indresh M., works as an auto driver, while her mother, Girija, is a homemaker.
Spandhana said she had always hoped to perform well in academics but never expected to receive three gold medals. “I was manifesting success and expected maybe just one gold medal, but I never thought I would receive three. It was a huge surprise and made me very happy,” she said.
Although she initially wanted to pursue an MBBS degree, circumstances during the COVID-19 pandemic changed her plans, leading her to choose physiotherapy. What started as an alternative path eventually became a field she embraced with dedication and interest.

Her consistent efforts and commitment helped her secure one of the highest academic honours in her course. Looking ahead, Spandhana plans to pursue a Master’s degree in neurosciences and continue building her career in healthcare.
Coming from a humble background, she said her family’s encouragement remained one of her greatest strengths. She also dedicated much of her success to the support and guidance she received from her college.
Meanwhile, Prajwal Kashyap, an MBBS student from Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute, secured two gold medals and one cash prize, emerging as the second topper of the university. He credited his success to understanding concepts thoroughly and the support provided by his family.
Brinda K., a student of SJM Dental College and Hospital, Chitradurga, also received two gold medals and one cash prize in Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS). She said consistent hard work, patience and practical learning experiences played an important role in her achievement.
The accomplishments of these students highlight the value of perseverance, dedication and strong support systems in achieving academic excellence.
