Don Bosco Centre Honoured for Child Protection Work on World Day Against Child Labour

Yadgir, Karnataka, June 14, 2026: The Don Bosco Centre for Social Action (DBCSA), Yadgir, received two prestigious district-level honours in recognition of its commitment to child welfare and community development during the observance of World Day Against Child Labour held at the Government Degree College Auditorium in Yadgir.


The awareness programme was jointly organised by the District Legal Services Authority, District Administration, Zilla Panchayat, Labour Department, Department of Public Education, Women and Child Development Department, Police Department, and several non-governmental organisations working across the district.


In acknowledgement of its sustained efforts to promote child rights and protect vulnerable children, DBCSA was conferred the “Best NGO” Award in Yadgir district. The organisation’s director, Fr Shabu Francis, was also honoured with the “Best NGO Person” Award for his leadership and dedicated service in safeguarding the rights and well-being of children and marginalised communities.

The event brought together 517 participants, including school students, Anganwadi workers, ASHA workers, teachers, government officials and representatives of civil society organisations. Through awareness sessions and discussions, the programme highlighted the dangers of child labour, the importance of protecting children's rights, and the shared responsibility of society in ensuring a safe and dignified future for every child.


The twin honours recognised DBCSA’s longstanding contribution to child protection, social justice and the holistic development of vulnerable communities in Yadgir district. The awards also acknowledged the organisation’s ongoing initiatives in community empowerment, awareness generation and advocacy for the welfare and rights of children.


For the Don Bosco Centre for Social Action, the recognition serves as an affirmation of its mission to build a child-friendly and inclusive society where every child is given the opportunity to learn, grow and live with dignity and hope. Through its continued outreach and commitment to the most vulnerable, DBCSA remains a significant force in advancing the Church’s social mission and promoting the rights of children in the region.
