Chandel, Manipur, Jan 22, 2026 — The third Anal Catholic Women Conference, celebrating faith, unity and cultural identity, was held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Lamphoupasna, from January 16 to 19, 2026.
The four-day gathering brought together more than 500 women from eight Anal Catholic communities across the district. The Anal tribe, one of Manipur’s indigenous communities, is known for its rich cultural heritage and strong Christian faith.
The conference was held under the theme, “A woman who fears the Lord is to be praised” (Proverbs 31:30), emphasising the role of women in nurturing faith, family life and social responsibility. A highlight of the event was the administration of the sacrament of Confirmation to 130 faithful by Archbishop Neli Linus, D.D., of Imphal.
During the conference, new office bearers of the Anal Catholic Women Society were elected for the 2026–2028 term. Hl. Hringve of St. John’s Church, Y/Khutha–Anal Khunou, was elected president, along with other members chosen to serve in key executive positions.
Formation sessions were conducted by Fr. James Tangshel, Director of CMC Koirengai, along with Sr. Binda, Sr. Jacinta Shangrang and Sr. Maria Goretti Lamhring. The sessions focused on women’s contribution to Church life, faith formation and community development.
Through prayer, discussions and group reflections, participants explored ways to strengthen their spiritual lives while deepening their commitment to service within the Church and society. Organisers said the conference reaffirmed the vital role of Anal Catholic women in preserving faith traditions and fostering unity within their communities.
