YCS YSM India to Convene National Council and Study Session in Mangaluru

Mangaluru, April 16, 2026: The YCS YSM India is set to bring together young leaders from across the country for its 29th Study Session and 20th National Council, scheduled to be held from May 23 to 30 at St. Joseph’s Engineering College, Mangaluru.

The week-long national gathering, organised by YCS YSM India and hosted by the Karnataka Region in collaboration with the Mangalore diocese, will centre on the theme, “Different Voices, One Society.” The theme reflects the movement’s priorities for the 2026–2029 term—Peace, Culture, and Dignity—while emphasising unity amid diversity.

Participants representing various regions of India are expected to engage in the movement’s hallmark methodology of “See, Judge, and Act,” a process that encourages young people to critically examine social realities, reflect in the light of Gospel values, and take responsible action within their communities.

The study session is designed as an immersive formation experience, combining reflection and action. It will include discussions on social justice, peace-building, and cultural preservation, alongside cultural exchanges that celebrate India’s diversity.

Participants will also take part in small group “cell meetings” aimed at fostering personal reflection and mutual support, as well as exposure visits to local communities to better understand grassroots social challenges.

Interactive group activities focused on leadership, teamwork, and creative engagement are also planned, offering a holistic platform for personal and collective growth.

A key moment of the gathering will be the 20th National Council, during which a new National Team will be elected. This student-led body will be entrusted with guiding the vision and initiatives of the movement over the next three-year term.

As preparations continue, the upcoming assembly is expected to serve as a vital space for discernment and collaboration, strengthening the commitment of young people to active participation, social responsibility, and the building of a more just and united society.
