Goa, February 7, 2026: A workshop on “Resolving Conflicts through Dialogue” was held on the second day of the Sadbhav Sammelan 2026 at the Pilar Pilgrim Centre, with interfaith peacebuilder Urmi Chanda facilitating the session.
Chanda emphasised self-awareness as the foundation of meaningful dialogue, noting that peacebuilding begins with understanding oneself, recognising others, and nurturing relationships based on respect and openness.
Through interactive exercises, participants reflected on their core values and engaged in sharing sessions designed to build trust and attentive listening. The workshop focused on the importance of different levels of listening, including listening to respond, listening with full presence, and listening with empathy.
Chanda also distinguished between debate, discussion and dialogue, explaining that dialogue seeks understanding and relationship-building rather than winning an argument. She stressed the need to listen to understand, suspend assumptions, and speak from personal experience.
The session concluded with group discussions on challenges in interfaith dialogue and experiences of misunderstanding, encouraging participants to reflect on ways to foster greater understanding and harmony.
