Vellore, Nov 10, 2025: Gathering for their annual retreat, priests from the diocese of Vellore began a week of prayer, renewal, and fraternity at the Shrine Basilica of Our Lady of Health, Velankanni, on Sunday, November 9, 2025. Bishop P. A. Ambrose of Vellore guided the priests as they began the retreat, urging them to approach it with openness to renewal and deeper communion in their ministry. The retreat, which continues until November 14, offers the clergy time for reflection and spiritual strengthening.
Bishop Ambrose encouraged the priests to embrace the “3R Spiritual Path” — Rewind, Reset, and Refocus — as a means of renewal and recommitment to their vocation.
Rewind – return to the source of one’s priestly vocation and rediscover the depth of God’s love.
Reset – renew one’s heart and mind to live the Gospel with greater faith and simplicity.
Refocus – centre one’s mission once again on Christ and His people with renewed zeal and commitment.
He urged the clergy to make this retreat a time of interior transformation and pastoral renewal in a spirit of unity and prayer.
Throughout the retreat, the priests will participate in the celebration of the Eucharist, Adoration, Confession, spiritual conferences, and personal reflection, fostering a deep atmosphere of grace and communion.
The Vellore Diocesan Communication Centre stated that this annual retreat at Velankanni continues to be a moment of grace, strengthening the clergy to return to their pastoral ministries with renewed spiritual energy and missionary focus.
