The Chosen Unveils Season 6 Trailer Focusing on Christ’s Passion

July 28, 2026: The popular biblical drama The Chosen has released the first teaser trailer for its sixth season, offering viewers an emotional preview of the final 24 hours of Jesus Christ’s earthly ministry, from his arrest and trials to his crucifixion.

Released on July 27, the trailer focuses on Good Friday and portrays Jesus’ arrest, trials, scourging and journey to Calvary, culminating in his crucifixion. The six-episode season is expected to take the series into one of its most intense and emotionally challenging chapters.

The first three episodes of Season 6 are scheduled to premiere on Prime Video on November 15, 2026, with the remaining episodes to follow weekly. The regular television release will conclude on December 6.

The season finale will receive a separate theatrical release as a stand-alone event on March 12, 2027, giving audiences an opportunity to experience the concluding episode on the big screen.

The crucifixion scenes were filmed in Matera, Italy, over three weeks in June 2025. The historic city, renowned for its ancient cave dwellings and dramatic landscape, has previously been used as a location for biblical films.

Dallas Jenkins, creator, writer and director of The Chosen, described the filming of the Passion scenes as one of the most difficult and challenging experiences of the production.

For the cast and crew, recreating the final hours of Jesus’ life was not only an artistic undertaking but also a deeply spiritual experience.

Jonathan Roumie, who portrays Jesus in the series, has spoken about the emotional impact of filming the Passion and crucifixion. Reflecting on the experience, he said that even months later he could become emotional while attending Mass or recalling the scenes.

Roumie described portraying even a small part of Christ’s Passion as an experience that left an “indelible impression” on him, saying he felt deeply humbled and moved by the experience.

Season 6 will also be accompanied by new music. Production company 5&2 Studios, in collaboration with Capitol Christian Music Group, is preparing an album of original songs inspired by The Chosen.

The first single, “All I Need Is You,” performed by country singer Tyler Hubbard, is scheduled for release on August 7, 2026. Hubbard, who is also a fan of the series, said the song reflects the centrality of Jesus and the desire for a deeper relationship with him.

With its focus on Good Friday and the Passion of Christ, Season 6 of The Chosen is set to bring viewers into one of the most significant and solemn moments of the Christian faith through a combination of dramatic storytelling, emotional performances and new music.
