Bengaluru, July 4, 2026 :St. John's Medical College, Bengaluru, has been ranked the third-best private medical college in the country in THE WEEK–HANSA Research Survey 2026, the results of which were published on June 29.
Established in 1963 by the Catholic Bishops' Conference of India (CBCI) under the St. John's National Academy of Health Sciences, the institution was founded to train healthcare professionals with a focus on ethical practice, compassionate care and service to society.
The survey recognises the college's performance in medical education, clinical services, research and community engagement. Over the years, St. John's Medical College has built a reputation for combining academic training with accessible healthcare through its teaching hospital and outreach programmes.

The institution's teaching hospital provides tertiary care while serving as a clinical training centre for undergraduate and postgraduate students. Its Research Institute undertakes biomedical, clinical and public health research, contributing to evidence-based healthcare and policy.
In addition to its academic and research activities, the college conducts outreach programmes aimed at improving healthcare access in underserved communities.
The institution attributed the recognition to the efforts of its faculty, students, researchers, clinicians, alumni and support staff. It said the ranking reflects its continued emphasis on medical education, research, innovation and patient-centred care.
St. John's Medical College said it would continue its commitment to producing competent and socially responsible healthcare professionals while strengthening its contributions to healthcare delivery and medical research in India.
