Salesian Priest from India Honored for his Contribution to Education in Nepal

Kolkata, September 17, 2024: Fr. Binu Jacob, a Salesian priest from India, has been honored with a prestigious award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to education in Nepal over the past 15 years.


"Shikshalaya," a respected Nepali monthly magazine, presented the award to Fr Jacob, a member of the Kolkata Salesians and a teacher at Don Bosco Society.


The recognition was given at the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Education Level, underscoring his significant impact on the region's educational landscape.


The award ceremony took place at Don Bosco School in Park Circus, Kolkata, in the eastern Indian state of West Bengal, and was attended by prominent educators and leaders from the community.


Father Jacob’s commitment to transforming lives through education has inspired countless individuals, not only in Nepal but across South Asia. His dedication to fostering learning opportunities for young people continues to bridge borders and uplift communities.


SAARC, founded in 1985, is a regional organization of South Asian countries aimed at promoting economic and social development through cooperation. Its eight member states include Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, the Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.
