Sacred Music Concert at Rachol Seminary Elevates Hearts in Prayer

Rachol, Goa, April 26, 2026: Rachol Seminary witnessed an inspiring evening of prayer and reflection as the Santa Cecilia Choir presented Dut Mhoje Zayat (“Be My Disciples”) on April 26, celebrating the Easter season through sacred music.

Inspired by Christ's missionary mandate in Matthew 28:19, the concert invited the faithful into a profound encounter with the Risen Lord. The programme also commemorated the 500th birth anniversary of renowned composer Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, honouring his lasting contribution to sacred music.

Under the baton of Fr. Mathew Rebello, the choir, comprising 45 singers and 27 musicians, rendered a moving repertoire of Gregorian chant and classical liturgical compositions. The performance, enriched by a variety of instruments, created an atmosphere of deep devotion and contemplation.

Archbishop Filipe Neri Cardinal Ferrão, Archbishop-Patriarch of Goa, who attended as chief guest, praised the choir for transforming the audience into "a gathering of worshippers." He emphasised that sacred music leads believers to an encounter with God and described the evening as "a glimpse of heaven."

Fr. Joe Rodrigues , Parish Priest of Our Lady of Grace Church, Margao and Mr. Seby Fernandes were present as Guests of Honour.

Fr. Donato Rodrigues, Rector of Rachol Seminary, welcomed the gathering. The concert concluded on a deeply spiritual note, leaving the audience uplifted and renewed in faith.
