Pope Francis to Canonize First Millennial Saint Carlo Acutis in 2025

Rome, November 20, 2024: Pope Francis has announced that Blessed Carlo Acutis will be canonized during the Jubilee of Teenagers from April 25 to 27, 2025, alongside Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati. This significant event, confirmed during the Pope's general audience on November 20 will mark Acutis as the first saint from the millennial generation, highlighting his impactful legacy as a young web designer and devout Catholic.

Born in London in 1991 to Italian parents, Carlo Acutis displayed remarkable piety from an early age and became known for his dedication to documenting Eucharistic miracles and Marian apparitions through a website he created. Tragically, he succumbed to leukemia at just 15 years old in Monza, Italy, in 2006. His beatification took place in October 2020 after the Church validated a miracle attributed to him involving the recovery of a young boy in Brazil.

The upcoming canonization will occur during a special jubilee aimed at teenagers, emphasizing Acutis' relevance to youth today. Alongside him, Pier Giorgio Frassati, known for his deep faith and commitment to social justice, will also be elevated to sainthood later in July 2025.
