Pope Francis Has a Restful Night as His Condition Shows Steady Improvement

VATICAN CITY, March 11, 2025: Pope Francis had a restful night and woke up around 8 a.m., according to a statement released by the Holy See Press Office on Tuesday morning.

This update follows a statement issued by the Press Office on Monday evening, which stated that there was significant improvement in the health of the 87-year-old pontiff. The statement added that the Pope’s medical team has confirmed his condition as stable and lifted their guarded prognosis about his health. It also noted that blood tests and clinical findings indicated a positive response to the pharmacological treatment the Holy Father has been receiving. However, due to the complexity of his health and the severity of the infection he faced during his hospitalisation, he will continue receiving treatment in the hospital for the time being.

On Monday morning, Pope Francis participated remotely in the Roman Curia’s Spiritual Exercises, following the sessions via video link from his private apartment. He also received the Eucharist and spent time in prayer at his chapel. In the afternoon, he rejoined the Curia’s spiritual reflections online, alternating between prayer and rest throughout the day.
