Pastoral Course on Migrant Ministry and Pontifical Mission Societies Held at Seminary in Coimbatore

Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, September 25, 2025: Good Shepherd Seminary, Coimbatore, hosted a two-day pastoral course on Ministry to Migrants on September 23 and 24, followed by a session on the Pontifical Mission Societies on September 25 for the seminary’s deacons. The programme aimed to equip participants with the pastoral skills and missionary awareness essential for their future ministry as priests.


Fr. Jaison Vaddassery, Executive Secretary of the CBCI Commission for Migrants, led the course on Ministry to Migrants. In his sessions, he highlighted the Church’s mission and pastoral responsibility in accompanying and serving migrant communities, offering insights into their spiritual and social needs.


The session on the Pontifical Mission Organisations was held on 25 September and was led by Bishop Dr. Ambrose Pitchaimuthu, Bishop of Vellore and National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies. Following the session, Bishop Ambrose presided over the Holy Eucharist, celebrated with the staff and seminarians of the seminary.


Fr. A. Antony Raj, Rector of Good Shepherd Seminary, coordinated the programme and extended a warm welcome to Bishop Ambrose and Fr. Jaison. He expressed gratitude for their guidance and contribution to the holistic formation of seminarians.


The participants described the sessions as inspiring and enriching, noting that the guidance received would have a lasting impact on their preparation for future pastoral ministry.
