GUWAHATI, October 19, 2026: Basic Ecclesial Community (BEC) leaders from the Archdiocese of Guwahati and the dioceses of Tura and Bongaigaon gathered in Guwahati for a regional training programme focused on spiritual formation and community leadership.
The third-level BEC Zonal Training of Trainers (ToT) Programme 2026 was held at Inspiration, Guwahati, Assam, from October 14 to 16. It brought together diocesan coordinators, assistant coordinators and other representatives from the three ecclesiastical jurisdictions.
The training aimed to prepare BEC community animators to bear witness to Christ, serve with humility and share the Word of God.
Sr Beena Rose SH, Rajesh Tudu, Stephen Ekka and John Guria led sessions on three themes central to Christian life and leadership.
The theme “You Will Be My Witnesses” encouraged participants to deepen their personal relationship with Jesus and express their faith through their words and actions. “Serve Your Brethren as I Have Served You” emphasised humility, selfless service and servant leadership, while “When You Are Converted, Strengthen Your Brothers” highlighted personal conversion, spiritual renewal and the responsibility to support others in faith.
Bishop Mathew Anchukandam of Guwahati presided over the Eucharistic celebration on October 16 and distributed certificates of completion to the participants.
Following the training, participants are expected to organise similar programmes in their respective dioceses, support existing BEC units and facilitate the formation of new communities. They will also undertake the online registration of BEC units.
The initiative contributes to BEC Vision 2033, which aims to ensure that every parish has vibrant Basic Ecclesial Communities by 2033.
