Nagpur Youth Reflect on Faith and Responsible Use of Technology

Nagpur, July 29, 2026: Young people from Our Lady of Fatima Church, Jaitala, gathered for a youth formation programme organised as part of the ICYM Nagpur Team’s Faith Online initiative, reflecting on the relationship between Christian faith, technology and responsible digital living.

Held on July 26 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the programme was organised under the guidance of Fr. Augustine Antony D'Silva, Diocesan Youth Director. It sought to help young people discern how their Christian faith can guide their choices and behaviour in an increasingly digital world.

The sessions were led by Vivian Wasnik, President of ICYM Nagpur, and Melwyn Titus, Youth Coordinator. Through interactive presentations and group discussions, they examined the opportunities and challenges associated with modern technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI).

The speakers encouraged participants to use digital tools responsibly and ethically while safeguarding human dignity and remaining rooted in Christian values. They noted that digital platforms and AI have opened new possibilities for learning, communication and creativity but cautioned that technology should not replace authentic relationships with God, family and the wider community.

True wisdom, they emphasised, comes not merely from access to information but from a life grounded in prayer, faith and discernment.

The participants also reflected on their personal online habits and explored ways of becoming positive witnesses to Christ in the digital environment. Discussions focused on using technology for evangelisation, personal development and service while maintaining healthy relationships and protecting spiritual and emotional well-being.

The programme concluded with an interactive sharing session during which the youth expressed their views on the growing role of technology in their daily lives. Participants welcomed the practical insights offered during the programme and reaffirmed their commitment to responsible use of digital platforms while remaining firmly rooted in their faith and values.
