Mysore Prison Ministry Unit Builds Life Skills Capacity through Trainer Formation

Mysore, Jan 15, 2025: Strengthening the human and social dimensions of rehabilitation ministry, the Mysore Unit of Prison Ministry India (PMI) held a three-day Training of Trainers (ToT) on Life Skills from 12 to 14 January at the Catholic Centre. The initiative focused on equipping trainers engaged in prison and community-based rehabilitation work with practical tools for effective engagement.

Addressing the participants, Dr. Michael emphasised the importance of life skills education in nurturing responsible living, personal transformation, and meaningful social reintegration, highlighting its relevance within rehabilitation ministry.

The core sessions were led by Sr. Milagrin, who guided participants through key life skills concepts and participatory training methods. The approach prioritised experiential learning, using role plays, group discussions, presentations, debates, and evaluations to help participants grasp both the substance of life skills education and the methods required to facilitate it effectively.

Working in groups, participants explored assigned life skills topics and presented their learning across the three days. Regular recaps, feedback, and evaluation sessions supported the development of communication, presentation, and facilitation abilities. An additional session dedicated to presentation skills contributed to building confidence and clarity among the trainees.

The training reinforced Prison Ministry India’s commitment to promoting human dignity, transformation, and holistic rehabilitation, in keeping with the mission of the Church.
