Mysuru, November 11, 2025: Mysore Diocesan Service of Communion (DSC) organised a two-day Orientation Programme for newly elected Diocesan Deanery Coordinators and Parish Prayer Group Leaders on November 8–9, 2025, at St. Joseph’s Hospital premises, Mysuru. The programme brought together nearly 100 participants from across the diocese for a spiritually enriching and formative experience.
The event began with a session of praise and worship and the recitation of the Rosary.
A practical workshop followed, where participants worked in groups on real-life case studies related to parish prayer group ministry. The interactive format offered valuable insights into leadership, coordination, and problem-solving. Participants also learned how to effectively organize and animate parish prayer meetings through worship and teamwork.
On November 9, Bishop Francis Serrao SJ, of Mysore, addressed the lay leaders, emphasizing their vital role in the life and mission of the Church. He noted that Charismatic spirituality continues to help the faithful live committed and witnessing Christian lives. The Bishop urged participants to actively support their parish priests, engage in community life, and lead by example in faith and service. He assured diocesan support for ongoing programs promoting spiritual growth and faith formation.
The programme concluded with the Holy Eucharist celebrated by Fr. Maria Xavier, Diocesan Spiritual Director for DSC. In his homily, Fr. Xavier encouraged leaders to extend their outreach by forming prayer groups in every parish and remaining deeply committed to diocesan initiatives. He reminded them that personal prayer and community intercession form the foundation of effective ministry.
