Minor Seminary Rectors Convene in Coimbatore to Strengthen Priestly Formation

Coimbatore, December 15, 2025 — Good Shepherd Seminary hosted a regional gathering of Minor Seminary Rectors on December 11th, bringing together formators and seminary staff for a focused discussion on current formation practices and the evolving challenges facing priestly training today.

The meeting served as a collaborative platform to review formation methodologies, share pastoral insights, and discern ways to address the needs of young candidates preparing for priesthood in a rapidly changing social and cultural landscape.

In his address to the participants, the Rector underscored the indispensable role of minor seminaries, describing them as “the true cradle of priestly vocations.” He noted that the maturity, discipline, and spiritual depth observed in seminarians at the major seminary level are rooted in the patient and loving guidance provided during their early formation.

He expressed heartfelt gratitude to minor seminary formators, acknowledging their dedication in nurturing vocations during the most impressionable years of candidates’ lives. Their commitment, he said, continues to bear fruit in the life and mission of the Church.
