Milagris High School and Jr. College Observes Charity Day at Jeevdan Special School, Maharashtra

Sawantwadi, 11 April 2025: Milagris High School & Jr. College, Sawantwadi marked its Charity Day–Outreach Programme, Learn the Art of Giving, with a week-long series of compassionate activities aimed at promoting charity, empathy, and social responsibility among students. The theme of the event was inspired by the saying, “We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give.”

All students of Milagris High School actively participated in the celebration by donating essential items in kind for a local charity. A dedicated food drive was also held to collect daily necessities for the underprivileged, raising awareness about social issues and the importance of serving the community.

As part of the programme’s culmination, students of Standard IX, accompanied by their teachers, visited Jeevdan Special School in Zarap on 10 April 2025. They engaged in various activities, offered donated items, and spent time interacting with the students of Jeevdan, developing empathy and deepening their understanding of charitable service.

Fr. George Mathew Vettukallel, Director of Jeevdan, along with Principal Sr. Roza, Sr. Lisin, and teacher Tanaya Morajkar, warmly welcomed the Milagris team. The school staff also joined in the event, facilitating interactions between the two student groups. Teachers Sir Joshi and Ms. Anthonisa from Milagris School shared their reflections on the day’s impact and importance. Ms. Teresa, a student of Jeevdan, expressed gratitude on behalf of her school.

The initiative was led by Milagris Principal Fr. Richard Saldanha, whose commitment to community engagement inspired the school to take this meaningful step. The programme was not only a successful outreach event but also a valuable learning experience, instilling life lessons on generosity, compassion, and civic duty in students.

Charity Day 2025 stood out as a testament to the transformative power of giving, bringing together two schools in a shared mission of kindness.
