Bangalore’s St. Francis Xavier Church Hosts Holy Week Youth Adoration

Bangalore, 17 April 2025: The youth of St. Francis Xavier Church in Bangalore gathered in the chapel for a special hour of Adoration on 17 April led by Assistant Parish Priest Fr. Alwyn. Organised just before the Holy Triduum—Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter—the evening invited young parishioners into a time of reflection, repentance, and communion with Christ.

Fr. Alwyn began and ended the session with hymns, creating a meditative atmosphere that guided the youth through prayer. In his reflection, he drew attention to Peter and Judas—two disciples who faltered in their relationship with Jesus. He contrasted Peter’s denial and return through repentance with Judas’ betrayal and despair, emphasising that God’s mercy remains available to anyone who turns back with a sincere heart.

Parish Youth President R. Prince Ivan described the evening as a timeless encounter. “As we walked into the chapel, the glow of the candles in the dimly lit room felt like divine light surrounding us. Time slipped by; it was just us and Christ,” he said.

Fr. Alwyn also referred to the Gospel of John, recalling Jesus’ words to the woman caught in adultery: “Neither do I condemn you. Go, and sin no more.” The message resonated with those gathered, encouraging them to embrace both personal repentance and the grace to forgive others and themselves.

Towards the end, the youth joined hands in prayer, interceding for one another. Though few in number, they stood united in faith and intention, creating a powerful moment of spiritual strength and solidarity.

The evening concluded in silence, yet the message of divine mercy and peace remained with the group. The experience deepened their Lenten journey, reminding them that Lent is not merely about sacrifice but about returning to God with open hearts and renewed hope.
