19 April 2025: What happens when the very hands that bring us Christ grow weary? On this second day, we are invited to pray for priests and religious — those chosen to carry mercy, yet deeply in need of it themselves. Their holiness strengthens the Church; our prayers strengthen them.
Intention: “Today bring to Me the souls of priests and religious, and immerse them in My unfathomable mercy. It was they who gave Me strength to endure My bitter Passion. Through them, as through channels, My mercy flows out upon mankind.”
Prayer:
Most Merciful Jesus, from whom comes all that is good, increase Your grace in the souls of priests and religious, so that they may perform their works of mercy worthily and that all who see them may glorify the Father of Mercy who is in heaven.
Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon the company of chosen ones in Your vineyard — upon the souls of priests and religious — and endow them with the strength of Your blessing. For the love of the Heart of Your Son in which they are enfolded, impart to them Your power and light, that they may be able to guide others on the path of salvation and with one voice sing praise to Your boundless mercy for all eternity. Amen.
Reflection:
Today, we lift up the souls who have consecrated their lives to Christ — priests and religious. These are the ones who walk with us in our joys and sorrows, who offer Mass, hear confessions, teach, and serve. They stand in the gap between heaven and earth, and yet they are not without their own struggles.
Jesus revealed to St. Faustina that it was these souls who gave Him strength during His Passion. That alone speaks volumes. Their vocation is sacred — and costly.
In Diary 1222, Jesus says, “Their love will light up the cold world.” But even a burning lamp needs oil. Today, He asks us to be that oil — to surround them with mercy, prayer, and encouragement.
Reflective Questions:
When was the last time I truly prayed for a priest or religious in my life?
Do I view their role as merely functional — or as a channel of divine grace?
How can I offer support or gratitude to someone living a consecrated life today?
Mercy Challenge:
Write the name of a priest or religious who has impacted your life. Today, pray for that person intentionally. If you feel led, send a message or note of gratitude. Your encouragement could be the oil that keeps their lamp burning brightly.
