KCYM Verapoly Archdiocese Holds Memorial Holy Mass for Departed Leaders and Clergy

Kochi, 7 March, 2025: As part of the Golden Jubilee Year celebrations of KCYM Verapoly Archdiocese, a Memorial Holy Mass was held on 24 February 2025 at St. Francis Assisi Cathedral to pray for the souls of the departed bishops, priests, religious, and lay leaders who played a vital role in nurturing KCYM over the past fifty years.  

His Grace, Dr. Joseph Kalathiparambil, the Metropolitan Archbishop of Verapoly, presided over the Mass, offering a heartfelt tribute to those who dedicated their lives to the movement. "Those who have sacrificed for KCYM will reap its rewards in their lives," he said, underscoring the legacy of service and faith upheld by the departed souls. The event was organised under the leadership of KCYM Verapoly Archdiocesan President Rajeev Patric, with Rt. Rev. Dr. Antony Valunkal as the concelebrant.  

Rev. Fr. Sebastian Karukappally, Director of the Environmental Commission of the Archdiocese of Verapoly, delivered the homily, reflecting on the spiritual commitment of the departed. Several distinguished priests concelebrated the Mass, including Rev. Msgr. Mathew Kallingal, Chancellor Fr. Abijin Arakkal, Procurator Fr. Dr. Mathew Sojan Maliakkal, and Cathedral Vicar Fr. Peter Kochuveettil.  

Fr. Raphael Shinoj Aranchery, Director of KCYM Verapoly Archdiocese, expressed his gratitude to all who participated. The commemoration brought together a significant gathering, including KCYM Latin State Committee Animator Sr. Melna D’cotha, Vice President Akshay Alex, General Secretary Rose Mary K.J., Treasurer Joyson P.J., Animator Merlitta C.T.C., as well as former KCYM leaders, K.L.C.A. leaders, priests, religious sisters, KCYM Verapoly Archdiocesan Executive Members—Dilma Mathew, Arun Vijay S., Vinoj Varghese, Ferdin Francis, and Arun Sebastian—alongside regional officials and unit representatives.  

With gratitude for their contributions to the journey of faith, KCYM continues forward in the spirit of prayerful blessings.
