Bengaluru, July 31, 2026: Church leaders from across Karnataka met in Bengaluru on July 30 to review the implementation of the Conference of Catholic Bishops of India (CCBI) Pastoral Plan and strengthen collaboration in advancing the Church's pastoral mission in the region.
The one-day Orientation-cum-Review Meeting for Diocesan Pastoral Commissions Coordinators and Regional Commission Secretaries was held at Subodha, the Karnataka Regional Pastoral Centre, bringing together 36 diocesan coordinators and regional secretaries.
Archbishop Peter Machado of Bangladesh inaugurated the meeting and urged participants to recognise the responsibility entrusted to them. "All the secretaries are appointed as a choice, not by chance," he said, encouraging them to serve the Church with dedication and commitment.
The sessions were led by Bishop Gerald Isaac Lobo, Chairman of the CCBI Pastoral Plan Implementation Committee, who provided an orientation on the theme, "From Mandate to Mission." He outlined the vision, objectives and key features of the CCBI Pastoral Plan, emphasising the need for coordinated pastoral action and collaborative ministry across dioceses.
The afternoon session reviewed the progress of the Pastoral Plan's implementation in the Karnataka Region. Diocesan Pastoral Commissions Coordinators and Regional Commission Secretaries presented reports on initiatives undertaken in their respective dioceses, highlighting achievements, challenges and emerging pastoral priorities.
The meeting also facilitated dialogue and the sharing of best practices, enabling participants to learn from one another and identify strategies to strengthen the implementation of the pastoral plan at the diocesan and regional levels.
Organised by Fr. Anil Prasad, Regional Pastoral Plan Coordinator for Karnataka, the meeting concluded with a renewed commitment among participants to work collaboratively in advancing the CCBI Pastoral Plan and strengthening the Church's pastoral outreach across the region.
