The keynote address was delivered by Fr. Shinto Mathew, OCD, National President of CMHM and Director of the TREDA Institute of Mental Health and Wellness. He emphasised the growing need for mental health programmes in the nursing field to strengthen the psychological well-being of nurses and to provide them with space for self-care. He noted that CMHM, the largest Catholic mental health network in India, is deeply committed to conducting wellness programmes for Catholic nurses in collaboration with CNGI and like-minded organisations.

The scientific sessions were enriched by renowned experts:

  • Dr. Johnson Pradeep, HOD of Psychiatry, St. John’s, and National Board Member of CMHM, spoke on “Emotional Investment in Care.”
  • Mr. Sigi Antony, National Director of CMHM Education, addressed “Enhancing Personal Resilience and Well-being.”
  • Ms. Teena Johnson, HOD of Psychology, TREDA, and Prof. Nisha, HOD of Psychiatric Nursing, St. John’s, discussed “Compassion Without Care.”

A panel discussion followed, featuring Dr. Sojan Antony, Associate Professor, NIMHANS; Sr. Dr. Celcy Mary, President of CNGI Bangalore; Mr. Sigi Antony; and Ms. Teena Johnson.

The event witnessed active participation from nursing students and professionals across Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Kerala.

Through such initiatives, CMHM continues to promote wellness within Catholic communities, offering hope and healing. Its collaboration with CNGI benefits nurses in Karnataka by providing training, counselling, and individual guidance. Additionally, CMHM’s Hospital Administration courses have already empowered many nurses at the grassroots level to enhance their efficiency in healthcare settings.

CMHM is also planning several national-level programmes dedicated to the well-being of Catholic nurses in the coming months.
