Jesus Youth, The Chosen Explore Partnership to Expand Faith Storytelling in India

Kochi, May 6, 2026: In a move aimed at deepening faith engagement through visual storytelling, Jesus Youth International has initiated discussions with the makers of The Chosen to help the story reach more people across India.

A key meeting was held on May 5 at the Jesus Youth International Office in Kochi, bringing together representatives from both groups to explore possibilities of walking together in sharing the story of Jesus.

Among those present were Ashish Nag, Asia Lead for The Chosen, and Ajin Joseph, representing Catholic engagement for the series under the Conference of Catholic Bishops of India.

Members of the Jesus Youth leadership team, including Manoj Sunny, Dr. Midhun Paul, and Charles Bastian, participated in the discussions, which focused on how the story could find a place more naturally within parish and youth settings.

Central to the conversation was the growing presence of The Chosen, a multi-season series depicting the life of Jesus Christ and the people who encountered Him. The meeting also reflected on possibilities surrounding an upcoming film project on the Crucifixion, expected to be released in early 2027.

Participants shared a common vision of creating spaces where individuals and families can encounter the message of Christ through simple and engaging formats.

Proposals included organising community screenings in parishes, small Christian communities, youth gatherings, and even homes, followed by moments of reflection and conversation.

Over the years, The Chosen has drawn millions of viewers worldwide, resonating with audiences through its human portrayal of first-century life and the message of Christ’s love. Its impact has often extended beyond viewing, with people gathering, reflecting, and sharing what the story stirs in them.

The Kochi meeting reflects a growing openness within the Church in India to welcome storytelling like this into community life. Through the wide grassroots network of Jesus Youth, the story is expected to continue finding people across both urban and rural settings.

As preparations continue for the forthcoming film and future seasons of the series, both sides expressed hope that the initiative will help bring the Gospel narrative to more people across India, nurturing faith and community life in the years ahead.
