Fr. Peppin Appointed Regional Deputy of West Bengal.

Kolkata 5 May 2026 (CCBI): Fr. V. Gnana Peppin (52) from the Archdiocese of Calcutta has been appointed as the Regional Deputy Secretary of the Bengal Regional Bishops’ Council, West Bengal.


Fr. Peppin was born on 9 June 1974 in Kadakulam, Tuticorin District, Tamil Nadu. He completed his early education at St. Joseph’s Middle School, Kadakulam, and Caldwell Centenary Memorial Higher Secondary School, Idaiyangudi. He pursued priestly formation at St. John Vianney Minor Seminary, Barasat, and completed his philosophy and theology at Morning Star College and Morning Star Regional Seminary, Barrackpore.


He was ordained in 2003 and has served in various pastoral and administrative roles in the Archdiocese of Calcutta. His early ministry included assignments as Assistant Parish Priest at Holy Family Church, Kearchand, and Priest-in-Charge at Christo Jyothi Ashram, Basinda. He also served at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Barasat.


He holds a B.Ed from St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata, and served as Headmaster of St. Anthony’s School, Kolkata. He later worked as Assistant Parish Priest at Infant Jesus Church, Behala.


From 2011 to 2016, he served as Diocesan Youth Director of the Archdiocese of Calcutta while also assisting at Sacred Heart Church, Dharamtala. He then pursued licentiate studies in Family Apostolate at Cana, Changanacherry, Kerala.


From 2018 to 2026, he served as Diocesan Director of the Family Commission and continued his pastoral ministry at Sacred Heart Church, Dharamtala.
