Bengaluru, March 13, 2026: An interreligious Iftar gathering in Bengaluru brought together representatives of different faith traditions on March 12, creating a space for dialogue, reflection, and shared commitment to peace and harmony among communities.
The programme began with an interreligious prayer led by Mrs. Khansa and Sr. Clarice, setting a reflective and spiritual tone that highlighted the common values shared across religious traditions.
Welcoming the gathering, Fr. John Baptist, Director of NBCLC, acknowledged the presence of participants from diverse faith backgrounds. He noted that such initiatives serve as meaningful opportunities to strengthen relationships and encourage mutual respect among communities through shared experiences and dialogue.
The Iftar message was delivered by Mr. Akbar Ali, who emphasised the importance of interfaith harmony. Reflecting on the deeper significance of the occasion, he stressed the need for communities to nurture understanding and solidarity in a society marked by religious diversity.
Leaders from other faith traditions also shared their reflections during the programme. Swami Shivarudra from Belli Matta spoke about the importance of harmony and mutual understanding among religions, urging people to recognise shared human values and build relationships rooted in respect.
Ven. Chelon, a Buddhist monk, offered practical insights on peaceful coexistence, encouraging participants to cultivate attitudes that promote understanding and harmony in daily life.
The programme was smoothly conducted by the Masters of Ceremony, Mr. Dennis and Mrs. Halima, who guided the proceedings.
Fr. Vinay Kumar, Secretary of the Karnataka Regional Interreligious Dialogue Commission, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing appreciation to all those who contributed to the successful organisation of the gathering.
The event was organised by NBCLC in collaboration with the Karnataka Regional Interreligious Dialogue Commission. By bringing together voices from different religious traditions, the gathering reaffirmed the continuing importance of interreligious dialogue in fostering mutual respect and strengthening bonds among communities.
