Bengaluru, August 9, 2025: The spirit of unity and mutual respect among diverse faith traditions was celebrated on August 9 as the Interreligious Dialogue Commission hosted a special Raksha Bandhan gathering at Subodhana, the Karnataka Regional Pastoral Centre in Bengaluru. The event served as a vibrant testament to India’s pluralistic ethos, fostering dialogue and goodwill between communities.
Brahmakumari sisters, led by Sahodari Pavithra, head of the Banasvadi Brahmakumari Spiritual Centre, ceremonially tied Rakhis to religious leaders from different faiths, symbolising bonds of fraternity and peace.
Distinguished attendees included Mr. Bhatiya Singh, professor of Sikhism, and Fr. Anil Kumar, Director of the Regional Pastoral Centre, alongside Ms. Shiny, Sr. Molly, Sr. Jessy, and a group of enthusiastic young participants.
Fr. Anil Prasad spoke on the significance of interreligious celebrations in India’s pluralistic society, noting their role in fostering understanding and mutual respect.
Addressing the gathering, event organiser Fr. Vinay Kumar underscored the significance of fostering peace and reconciliation in a multi-religious society. He highlighted that interfaith celebrations such as Raksha Bandhan offer a powerful reminder of the need for mutual respect and understanding in today’s world.
