Belgaum, Karnataka, August 9, 2025 – The Laity Commission of the Diocese of Belgaum organised a heartfelt felicitation for all diocesan priests on Friday, marking the Feast of St. John Mary Vianney, the patron saint of parish priests.
Led by Mrs. Clara Fernandes, Secretary of the Laity Commission, the programme celebrated the invaluable contribution of priests to the spiritual life of the faithful. In her address, Mrs. Fernandes expressed profound gratitude to those who have generously answered God’s call to serve His people, describing the priest as “a bridge between the people and God.”
As a visible sign of appreciation and love, the laity of the diocese sponsored and presented a special gift to each priest. This simple yet meaningful gesture symbolised the strong bond between the clergy and the faithful they guide.
The event served as a poignant reminder that the mission of the Church is a shared journey between shepherds and flock, grounded in prayer, service, and mutual love.
