Bhopal, February 4, 2026:
The Infant Jesus Shrine in Bhopal witnessed a fervent expression of faith and devotion as hundreds of faithful gathered to celebrate the Feast of the Infant Jesus with solemnity and prayer.
The highlight of the celebrations was the solemn Eucharistic celebration presided over by A. A. S. Durairaj, Archbishop of Bhopal. In his homily, the Archbishop called on the faithful to remain actively engaged in the life of the Church and to consecrate their lives wholly to God. Reflecting on the presentation of Jesus in the Temple, he noted that while Jesus was not obliged by the law to be presented, His offering symbolises the call for every Christian to dedicate oneself entirely to God and to live one’s faith through committed participation in the Church.
Nearly 800 faithful took part in the Eucharistic celebration, marking the feast in an atmosphere of reverence, joy and thanksgiving. The celebration continued with a community meal served after the Holy Mass, fostering fellowship and strengthening bonds among the participants.
In the days leading up to the feast, the shrine observed a nine-day Novena, which saw active participation from pilgrims and parishioners drawn from various parishes of the Archdiocese of Bhopal. The Novena provided an opportunity for the faithful to deepen their spiritual preparation and seek the blessings of the Infant Jesus.
The feast celebrations were organised under the leadership of Fr. John Benito, Rector and Parish Priest of the Infant Jesus Shrine, with the assistance of Fr. Johny Wilson, Assistant Parish Priest. Supported by dedicated parishioners and volunteers, the events were conducted smoothly and prayerfully.
The celebrations reaffirmed the Infant Jesus Shrine’s significance as a vibrant centre of faith and spiritual nourishment for the faithful of the Archdiocese of Bhopal.
