New Delhi, December 17, 2025: The Indian Postal Department has released a special postage stamp titled “Christmas” as part of the ongoing Christmas celebrations, underscoring the festival’s message of love, peace and joy. The stamp was officially unveiled during a Christmas programme held at the National Postal Headquarters.
The initiative highlights the cultural and spiritual significance of Christmas and reflects the Postal Department’s continued effort to commemorate important social and religious occasions through philately. Designed to capture the essence of the Christmas spirit, the stamp is intended to carry the festival’s universal message to people across the country through regular postal circulation.
Officials speaking at the event emphasised that Christmas is a celebration that goes beyond religious boundaries, promoting values such as compassion, sharing and harmony. In the present social context, they noted, the release of the stamp serves as a symbolic reminder of these enduring values and the need to uphold them in everyday life.
The programme was attended by senior officials of the Postal Department, representatives of the Church and invited guests. Participants appreciated the initiative and highlighted the role of commemorative stamps in preserving cultural heritage and fostering unity among people from diverse backgrounds.
Speakers also pointed out that special postage stamps are not merely tools of communication but also valuable collectors’ items that document significant cultural, social and religious milestones. The Christmas stamp, they said, is expected to attract interest from philatelists as well as the general public.
Christmas, which marks the birth of Jesus Christ, is celebrated worldwide as a festival of hope, renewal and goodwill. Through this special stamp, the Indian Postal Department seeks to remind citizens of the deeper meaning of the celebration and its call for peace and fraternity.
The newly released Christmas postage stamp will be available at designated postal outlets and is expected to be widely used during the festive season.
